Dr. Breno Lima

We pass along the sad news that Dr. Lima lost his battle with a brain tumor on May 24, 2017. He was a very educated physician, one of only a few in Florida. Our prayers go out to his family.

Dr. Breno da Rocha Lima was born in Brazil and grew up in Rio de Janeiro and Goiania, Brazil, where he attended medical school. He came to America and was a visiting student at the University of Miami in his senior year. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh and then moved to Ohio for an Ophthalmology residency at the internationally recognized Cleveland Clinic Foundation. His next step was a Fellowship at National Eye Institute/National Institutes of Health to advance his skills in uveitis and medical retina.

Dr. Lima called Jacksonville, FL his home when he joined Bowden Eye & Associates in August 2013. He enjoyed playing tennis, scuba diving, photography and watching motor sports. He was also an avid award winning web designer. Breno da Rocha Lima, M.D., battled a brain tumor and lost his battle on May 24, 2017 with his family beside him in Brazil. Dr. Lima leaves behind his father (Marcos Rocha Lima), mother (Sueli Rocha Lima), sister (Andrea Parrode), brother (Adriano Da Rocha Lima), fianc e (Aline Magalh es Felipe), numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as thousands of patients that dearly loved him.

Dr. Lima will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The funeral will be held in Brazil.
