Cataract Evaluation

Not all cataracts must be removed right away. Because the protein build-up typically starts very slowly, there may not be a significant effect on your vision for many years. However, it is important to know whether or not there is a presence of cataracts on your eyes so your vision can be monitored.

At Bowden Eye & Associates Dr. Frank W. Bowden, III, Dr. Sarah Darbandi, or any of our optometrists, can determine the presence and extent of cataracts through a cataract evaluation. We perform several painless tests to assess your eye health. Some of these tests require eye dilation, so you may want to bring a friend or family member to drive you home after your appointment.

Cataract Evaluation Tests

  • Retinal health (back of the eye)
  • Eye lens assessment
  • Visual acuity
  • Visual prescription measurement
  • Eye pressure measurement
  • Family and medical history assessment
  • Medication assessment
