ORA Cataract Technology
Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA) Technology
Every replacement Intraocular Lens (IOL) implanted during cataract surgery is set with a specific power calculation to provide you with the best possible vision for the lens type you choose. The lens and lens power is chosen prior to surgery; however, if there are any slight vision alterations that occur during the surgical process, those may not be accounted for with the pre-selected IOL power. Dr. Frank W. Bowden, III, and Dr. Sarah Darbandi wanted to provide cataract patients with better vision outcomes and have implemented advanced technology during the surgical process.
At Bowden Eye & Associates, our doctors assess your refractive error measurements during cataract surgery using our Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA) technology. This system allows our cataract specialists in Jacksonville to collect Wavefront analysis of your eye after your cloudy lens has been removed so they can adjust the IOL power of your IOL if necessary.
Not all cataract surgeons offer this level of customization during surgery. Our investment in this advanced technology is one more example of our commitment to excellence in vision outcomes.
