Raindrop and Presbyopia
Tired of Reading Glasses?
After age 40, most people need reading glasses to see things up close. It’s a natural part of the aging process that is caused by the onset of presbyopia. Reading glasses are often associated with growing older; not everyone is thrilled about wearing these in public.
Luckily, Bowden Eye & Associates has an excellent, semi-permanent alternative to reading glasses: The Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay.
Raindrop is the world’s first inlay to change the shape of the cornea (the clear, front part of the eye) to improve near vision. It is designed to help reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses. Raindrop is receiving a great deal of interest with the recent FDA approval in June of 2016.
With the Raindrop inlay implanted on the non-dominant eye, both eyes work together to create one image. There is not a compromise for distance vision and patients still have a significant improvement in near vision.
