Dr. Frank W. Bowden, III, is more than the name on the door of Bowden Eye & Associates, he is the founder – and the foundation – of the practice. While he is too humble to refer to himself as an ophthalmology expert, he is viewed as one in the medical community and is frequently called upon for his expert opinion.
He travels extensively to educate his peers at various professional meetings. He was even selected to be the official ophthalmologist/eye doctor for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL from the time of their inauguration. He provided care to the NFL team until 2020.

Dr. Frank W. Bowden, III, is one of the few corneas and external disease specialists in the area (Dr. Sarah Darbandi is also one). This means that, in addition to being a board-certified ophthalmologist, he has completed specialized fellowship training in disorders and diseases specific to the cornea and front structures of the eye – all critical components of vision and eye health. As a fellowship-trained cornea specialist, he is uniquely qualified to treat dry eye syndrome; corneal abrasions, inflammations, ulcers, scarring, injuries, and infections; keratoconus; as well as pediatric corneal diseases. He also specializes in corneal transplantation using advanced techniques such as PKP, DSAEK, and DALK.
“I am very grateful for Dr. Bowden and his entire staff. They are outstanding.”
